eCommerce, what is it? Simply stated, it is the ability to sell merchandise or services over the internet and collect payments. Most hosting companies allow you to sell products on line. However they do not supply you with the tools to do so. That is where CyberStar Designs can help. Whether you want to sell 1, 100 or 1000 products, we can get you up and selling quickly. Here is a short list of what you will need to start selling online.

- Hosting service.
- Shopping Cart or Order Form.
- SSL for accepting online payments.
- Merchant Account.
Website
First, if you do not already have a website on a good host, you will need one designed for you. CyberStar Designs will assist you in this and all matters to get you up and selling quickly. You may check our Small Business Website Design section to see what we can do for you. Regardless if we build your site, or you already have one, we will help you get selling right away.
Hosting
Next, if you don't have one, you will need a host. Your host should be one that allows you to upload files to their server via FTP, File Transfer Protocol, so that you may transfer your shopping cart software and needed supporting files to your website. Note, most free web host companies like Geo Cities do not allow FTP unless you upgrade to their paid hosting. CyberStar Designs does not offer hosting at this time. However, we do have a good working relationship with some top quality hosting services.
SSL *
Short for Secure Sockets Layer, a protocol developed for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. You will need a Secure Sockets Layer for protecting your customers while transmitting their personal information and payments to you. JackR.Net does not supply SSL Certificates, but will assist you in obtaining one if one is needed.
Shopping Carts
Next you will need a shopping cart or order form. Depending on the amount of products you are selling, you will need some kind of program so that your customers can easily buy your products. We offer several fine programs that we will tailor to your particular needs.
Merchant Account *
If you have a brick & mortar store, then chances are you already have a merchant account with them. You will need to check with them to see if they have a gateway program to use for online stores. If not, there are a number of other online companies that will process credit cards for you with a small service fee. For very small shopping sites, Paypal is one of the best solutions for handling and accepting payments over the internet. CyberStar Designs does not sell merchant accounts or credit card processing gateways. CyberStar Designs will assist you, if needed, to find a suitable company to handle your needs.
