To Make Your Site More Manageable

Part 4 - Checking Your Work

Now it’s time to upload your pages. Use your ftp program and upload the whole folder you named test to your host. Once that is done, open your favorite browser and type in the name of your site, and the complete url to your test pages.

http://yoursite.com/test/test.php

The page should display just as it did before you cut it up and made includes out of it.

Now, if you add new pages to your site, you will only have to edit one or two files to have all of your links and footer information updated for every page. If you plan on having a large site and will be adding pages as you go along, this will save you a lot of time. No longer will you have to go through every page to update links to new pages added.

If you have pages that you like to change out content to keep it looking fresh, you can add an include in that content area. Then instead of building a new page to replace the one that is up, just add the new text to a table and save it to your includes with the same file name. A lot easier and faster than building a new page.

I hope you found this tutorial helpful. If you have any questions or suggestions, please email me at CyberStar-Designs@jackr.net, I will do my best to answer every one.
